CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

Civil Engineering/Transportation Project Manager (Pittsburgh, PA and State College, PA)

Stahl Sheaffer Engineering is seeking experienced civil engineering project managers with ten (10) or more years industry experience.  Project managers are expected to achieve project goals and objectives within project constraints on scope, schedule, quality and budget.  Candidates must be well versed in PennDOT and / or PA Turnpike Commission projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Proposal development
  • Manage design projects. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance
  • Lead the design team consisting of staff engineers and other consultants as appropriate
  • Day to day project oversight and communication with the client
  • Develop, track, update, forecast, and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project
  • Prepare monthly reports
  • Assist in plan reviews and QA / QC activities

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
  • 10+ years experience with transportation engineering projects
  • 3+ years experience in working in collaborative and unstructured teams, and managing and leading those teams
  • P.E. license required
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Experience having direct contact with clients

Preferences:

  • Candidates must have a working knowledge of Microstation and InRoads
  • Experience with water resources (highway drainage, stormwater management, E&S, and / or H&H) also a plus.
  • Experience with traffic engineering projects a plus
  • Experience on NYSDOT, ODOT, WVDOT projects

Highway Design / Civil Engineer (Pittsburgh, PA and State College, PA)

Stahl Sheaffer Engineering is seeking experienced highway design engineers with five (5) or more years of both preliminary and final design highway experience.  Candidates must be well versed in PennDOT and / or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission design criteria and standards.  Candidates must have a working knowledge of Microstation and InRoads.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum with an interest / emphasis in highway engineering
  • 5+ years experience with transportation engineering projects
  • Preliminary engineering and final design experience on PennDOT and / or PA Turnpike projects
  • Computer skills:  Microstation, InRoads, Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills

Preferences:

  • Experience with water resources (highway drainage, stormwater management, E&S, and / or H&H) also a plus.
  • Experience with traffic engineering projects a plus
  • Experience on NYSDOT, ODOT, WVDOT projects
  • Computer skills: Hydrology / Hydraulic Design software, HCS, Synchro, VISSIM a plus

Construction Managers / Inspectors

Stahl Sheaffer Engineering, LLC is currently seeking Construction Managers and Inspectors with PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) experience, with knowledge of roadway and bridge construction. Candidates should have the proper and relevant construction inspection experience on PennDOT or PTC projects. Relevant certifications, such as EIT, ACI, NECEPT, NICET or equivalent are a plus.  Resumes must include detailed work histories and certification numbers with expiration dates and references.

Student Interns

SSE is accepting applications from civil engineering students for paid internships in all of our office locations (State College, McMurray, and Selinsgrove).  The ideal candidates would be able to work in an office setting 12 to 20 hours per week during normal business hours.  The internship will provide the student experience with Microrostation, ArcGIS, PennDOT and AASHTO highway design procedures, construction management and inspection experience and real world experience in a fast paced team environment. Valid Driver’s License and daily access to a motor vehicle is necessary. Candidates must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
